On a standard route on the low end you’ll make them 50k multiply that by 20-30 trucks with a satellite location and then look at your pay and the work your required to do and company culture and you’ll see it’s not worth it. Nothing matters but the big checks they get from their customers. They will harass you and make you feel like less of a person. Pay is not enough to be unloading a truck by yourself. Then you’ll have to split the route just to drive back 5 hours from out of state back to the terminal. I lost 25lb in a week and slept only 3 hours a night or less. trucks got overloaded to the point of popped tires and bent frames, and a 1 day shift became over 24 hours long and the work week was the full 7 days with added workload of a day or more for "what was not finished last week". the job was hand unloading and they worked the drivers and trucks way past what was legal and started to try and push past what was physically possible. leaving the location that needed 10 truck drivers to make all necessary delivery's with only 4 drivers.Īt this time the company did not raise pay or benefits to hire more drivers overtime was standard hour rate, but they did require more output total from the remaining drivers then what was required when they had more drivers to do the work.
